Lifting / Positioning: Retrofitting Hydraulic Power Units in Heavy-Duty Shipboard Lifting Actuation System

A military system required precise, synchronized motion across multiple lift points, along with redundancy and the ability to maintain operation even if part of the system was offline. Traditional hydraulic systems added complexity and made it difficult to achieve the level of control and flexibility needed.

This solution includes the Kyntronics Servo Power Unit (SPU) “Total Solution,” incorporating two banks of five SPUs, a control cabinet, and a remote operator HMI station with software.

• Control cabinet with all drives and electronics mounted, wired, and tested.
• Ability to manually operate the system in the event of a power outage.
• Ability to service one or more SPUs while keeping the system in operation.
• Synchronized speed across both five-SPU banks.

This solution met the customer’s requirement to eliminate the HPU, resulting in reduced operating costs, lower energy consumption, and lower maintenance.
