Zimmer produces brakes and clamps designed to be integrated into linear motion systems. The units mount directly on square rail linear guideway blocks from most manufacturers including CPC Chieftek, Star, THK, NSK, IKO, and Hiwin. Zimmer also has a line for Thomson style round rail pillow blocks.
Selection Criteria:
Holding force: Will the unit act as an emergency brake to stop a moving load, or does it just have to hold the load while power is off?
Force supply: Manual, electric, hydraulic and pneumatic types are available with varying degrees of force. Acting method: Other than manual, you can select a design that is held open by the force supply and closed with a spring when the supply is removed, or a design that is held open by a spring and closed by the force supply. The latter can have higher holding forces but is not failsafe.
