Dojen is a zero-backlash cycloidal style gear reduction mechanism developed for the US Military for control surfaces on missiles. Originally developed by the Dolan Jenner Company, the brand name Dojen is a contraction of the developing company. Onvio Corporation of Salem MA bought the Dojen brand and produces it for high performance automated machine applications. Interesting uses of the Dojen include control of the size of the melted glass blob in high speed glass bottle production as well as to control the depth of score on the top of soda cans – another high speed application requiring zero backlash.
